It also yields tiny green or creamy white blossoms with an extraordinarily refreshing smell during Spring. It is a pyramid-shaped tree that can be trimmed as an exquisite hedge. It has a good resistance to flooding, salt and drought. It also has a green-colored foliage with sharp tips on its sides. It has a minimum height of 50 feet and it spreads up to 40 feet. It can grow in different soil types and is tolerant to air pollution. However, to achieve best results, you need to choose a moist and well-drained soil. Avoid places that are not secured from cold winds. It can grow well in full sun but performs best in partial sun. Make sure to water it weekly during its formative years. Underwatered American Holly will bear lesser fruits and its leaves will grow thin.
