Mericrest nectarine trees are celebrated for their cold hardiness and rich, sweet flavor. The medium-sized fruit features smooth red skin over golden flesh and delivers a delightful balance of sweetness and tanginess. Perfect for fresh eating, drying, or baking, Mericrest is versatile and reliable. This self-fruitful variety thrives in sunny locations with well-draining soil, requiring moderate chill hours to perform its best. Its vigorous growth and beautiful spring blossoms make Mericrest an excellent choice for gardeners in cooler climates.

Semi-dwarf on Citation rootstock.

  • Zones: 5-9
  • Chill hours: 800
  • Bloom Time: Mid to Late Season (Based on typical Central Valley California weather)
  • Harvest: July 7 - July 22
  • Looks: Fruit is large and red-skinned, the inside yellow and freestone.
  • Personality: Rich tangy flavor, high scorer on taste tests. Dave Wilson's Taste Test Top Scorer.
  • Facts of note: One of the hardiest nectarines. Highly recommended for very cold (sub-zero) temperatures. Because it's late blooming, chances are better for a reliable crop in cold winter or unpredictable spring climates. Prof. E.M. Meader of the New Hampshire Experimental Station crossed the well-known Nectarest with Merideth to get Mericrest.
  • Pollination: Self-fruitful
